Apple Cider Pulled Pork with Apple Slaw

Apple Cider Pulled Pork with Apple Slaw

When you want tender, tasty, cozy, and comforting. That sums up my Apple Cider Braised Pulled Pork with apple slaw. The flavor and aroma are outstanding. If you want a twist, add orange juice, chicken stock, Cuso’s Maple Bourbon Seasoning, or honey to the smoking process.

It’s worth noting that pulled pork has other uses than on a sandwich. Use it in stew, casseroles, and soup, for example. Or, how about:

- Hash

- Egg rolls

- Mac n cheese

- Tacos

- Chili

Pitmaster’s Memo

You have a variety of ciders to choose from for this dish. Dry ciders have very little sugar. Semi-sweet has about 4% residual sugar. Sweet cider has 2% sugar after fermentation and mixes nicely with pork and apples.

You can also find flavored cider like apple-grape, apple cranberry, pear, mango, and pomegranate. Set aside some of your pulled pork and test it with various ciders to see if you like the flavor combination. If so, try that cider next time you cook this recipe.
