- Crowd-pleaser: Works as family dinner or game-day finger food.

Shopping for Chicken Wings
When you make Orange Crush grilled chicken wings, the quality of the meat matters. Look for these four key elements:
- Split wings: Cutting them into drumettes and flats takes up a lot of time
- Uniform sizing: This means they’ll all cook evenly at the same time
- Plump wings: For juiciness
- Color: No gray spots
You can certainly buy frozen wings. Just make sure you defrost them completely, then pat dry with paper towels.
Using Larger Pieces of Chicken
The Orange Crush sauce for these wings is great for larger pieces of chicken, too, like thighs. Just bear in mind they will take longer to cook. Make sure to purchase skin-on pieces for the best results.
Dehydrating Oranges & Habaneros
When you dehydrate oranges and habanero peppers for this grilled chicken wing recipe, their aroma becomes highly concentrated, creating an aromatic adventure. But you want to make sure your fruit and vegetable slices are wholly dehydrated.
Preheat the oven to 185°F. Slice the oranges thinly (no wider than ¼”). Remove the seeds. Carefully pat the oranges dry with paper towels. Put them on a wire rack over a cookie sheet, leaving space between each slice. Place in the oven for 5 hours, flipping periodically. Leave them in the oven to cool completely.
Check them. The orange slices should be:
- Translucent
- Amber orange
- No shine (sign of moisture)
- Slightly leathery
- Snapped easily
Note: Thicker oranges will require longer drying times. If you’re drying out in the air, it will take at least 48 hours, longer if you live where it’s humid.

Storing & Reheating Orange Crush Chicken Wings
Store the wings in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to four days. Freezer life: 3 months.
